School Meals

Our school have a variety of healthy eating projects ranging from the school menu to using ingredients grown by the children themselves.

Aspects of the curriculum are used to focus upon the children having a balanced and varied diet. We use aspects of the curriculum to try and raise the children’s awareness of healthy foods and nutrition. Packed lunches are closely monitored during lunchtimes to ensure the contents are appropriate. Sweets, chocolates and fizzy drinks are not allowed within packed lunches.

School Dinners

At Witton-le-Wear Primary School, our school dinners are cooked on site by our fabulous School Cook, Miss Taylor, and the kitchen staff!

A Sample menu is available in school so you can see some of the delicious food available to our children each day. These menus are changed on a termly basis. Children decide what they would like to have for their lunch on the morning as they have their attendance registration. Meals are then cooked to order and served in our school hall.

Children at Witton-le-Wear Primary School participate in our school fruit scheme. Each child in Key Stage One has the option of a piece of delicious fruit such as oranges, pears, apples or bananas each day during morning playtime.
