Head Teacher’s Update
We have reached the end of an exceptionally long term and are also just about at the end of our big-build project. In these last few weeks, it has been a huge pleasure to show you our completed building works and also for you to see, first-hand, the impact it has had on the quality of teaching and learning in our school. Children are no longer faced with constant interruption or disruption from neighbouring classrooms. Our school meals are now once again served in the hall; children can enjoy this time away from their desks and with their friends. The final phase of the works in our grounds is currently ongoing. Work was completed at the main entrance, and our new EYFS outdoor area will be created in the new year.
This marks the end of my fourth term as Head Teacher. It was a huge pleasure to deliver this project, although it took longer than we thought it would; it was worth it. These are still early days in our plans for the development of the school, I’m already working on the next phase and look forward sharing details with you on what happens next. That being said, although developing the physical school environment is key and much-needed, just as, if not more important is sharing it with you, our school community. Now that the big works are completed, I am really looking forward to regenerating our events calendar to invite you back into our school. These begin next term with our NSPCC Number and also World Book Day. Please see the calendar towards the end of this letter for more information.
We’ve included a range of updates from across the school in this newsletter. It is wonderful to see so many opportunities provided for the children. I thoroughly enjoyed the children’s performances in their Nativity plays as well as the trip to the pantomime at Bishop Auckland. Thanks to everyone who came along to support the children and also to staff for their hard work in putting everything together.
The Christmas holiday is always a time for rest, reflection and review. I remain so proud to be the Head Teacher here at the school, the support you and school staff have given me, particularly over the last few weeks, has genuinely meant so much and I am so grateful for the cards and kind words I have received. As we move into 2024, I’m looking forward to a fresh start and continuing our exciting journey together. Until then, please have a wonderful holiday, some quality time with your loved ones and a good rest.
