Head Teacher’s Update

The first month of 2024 has passed by quickly.  This is a jam-packed newsletter even without updates from the classes.   Read on to find out about a couple of changes to staffing and an introduction to our new Chair of Governors.  We have a vacancy for a parent Governor to join our academy council, if you’d like to have more of a say in the future direction of the school then see the update below.

You will also find out about our pupil leaders including the school councilors, who have been very busy and our new peer mediators.

We have a parents’ evening later this term; the link is below to book your appointment and also a Valentines Disco just before we break up for half term; tickets can be purchased through School gateway.   I look forward to seeing everyone on Friday at our Number Day event and again at our parents’ evening at the end of term.

Thanks once again for your support with everything we do in school – we wouldn’t be what we are without you.

Governor Update

There have been some changes to the structure of our Academy Council for this academic year.  Our Chair Mrs. Watt has decided to step down from this role.  Mrs. Watt will remain part of the Academy Council and continue to provide support to the school and remaining Governors.  Mrs. Watt has brought a huge amount of knowledge, skill and experience to the role of Chair, I do not hesitate in saying that the school would not have enjoyed the success it has without Mrs. Watt’s support and leadership.

Mr. Devlin, who has been a parent governor for a number of years and was also vice-chair of our governing body, has decided to step down from this role.  Mr. Devlin has brought a wealth of experience and expertise to the role; we are extremely grateful for all the support that he has given to our school.  I hope you will join me in thanking both Mrs. Watt and Mr. Devlin for their support.

We have appointed a new Chair and have a vacancy for a parent governor.

I am delighted to inform you that Mrs. Oswald has agreed to step into the role as Chair of our Academy Council.  Many of you will be familiar with Mrs. Oswald as she provides support to the school through community and school events, listening to children read and on trips.  She is a familiar and friendly face to the children and staff; I am confident that she will do a brilliant job in the role of chair.  Mrs. Oswald will be assisted by Mrs. Yuill who will step into the role of vice-chair.

We need another parent to join our academy council from this term onwards.  The role of Parent Governor is key for the future of the school. In this role you will have a say in the school’s development, receive updates on progress and priorities as well as gain valuable experience in educational leadership and management.  Training is available to support your journey.

If you or someone you know would be interested in this role, please don’t hesitate to contact me to arrange a discussion.  I will be posting a letter on Class Dojo to outline the application process and appointment process within the next few days.
